Title Flying Through Turbulence Airlines Adapt to Inclement Weather Amid Severe Tropical Storm Opong
As Severe Tropical Storm Opong (also known as international name Bualoi) brings heavy rains and flooding to various parts of the Philippines, local airlines are taking proactive measures to ensure passenger safety. In response to the inclement weather, Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific (CEB), and AirAsia Philippines have issued advisories regarding flight cancellations and rebooking options.
Philippine Airlines' Response
In anticipation of the severe weather conditions on Thursday, PAL has cancelled several flights. The affected flights include
PR2653 (Cebu-Catarman)
PR2654 (Catarman-Cebu)
PR2671 (Manila-Calbayog)

Passengers whose flights have been cancelled can choose from three rebooking options
1. Rebook Passengers can rebook their ticket in the same cabin class on a flight with available space within 60 days.
2. Travel Credits Passengers can convert the value of their unused tickets into travel credits, which can be used for future ticket purchases and are valid for two years. As an added incentive, passengers affected by flight disruptions will receive a five percent discount with their Travel Credits.
3. Refund If the passenger chooses not to rebook and instead opt for a refund, the airline will process the refund of unused ticket (excluding the ticketing service charge).
Cebu Pacific's Flexible Options
CEB is offering flexible options to passengers who wish to postpone their flights due to the forecasted heavy rains and flooding. The affected flights include
September 25 Butuan, Calbayog, Legazpi (Daraga), Masbate, Naga, San Jose (Mindoro), Siargao, Surigao, Tacloban, Virac.
All flights from September 26 to 27.
Passengers on these flights may avail of a free rebooking and travel fund up to two hours before their scheduled time of departure. The airline strongly advises its passengers not to proceed to the airport unless they have confirmed booking for flights which are currently still planned to operate.
