PSA Awards Night GAP Named NSA of the Year - A Testament to Philippine Gymnastics' Preeminent Performance
On February 16th, we will gather at the Diamond Hotel Manila for the San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association 2025 Awards Night. This esteemed event provides a fitting platform to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), which has once again been named National Sports Association (NSA) of the Year.
Carlos Yulo Leads by Example
At the forefront of GAP's remarkable journey is 25-year-old Carlos Yulo, a shining beacon of excellence in Philippine gymnastics. His impressive performances at the world and Asian championships, junior world championships, and Southeast Asian Games have reestablished him as one of the best in the world today.
A Year of Unparalleled Success
GAP's success is not limited to Yulo's achievements alone. Under the leadership of Cynthia Carrion, the organization has enjoyed a banner year, with Filipino gymnasts excelling across multiple competitions. From the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia to the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jecheon, South Korea, our national team has consistently demonstrated its prowess.
Spearheading Success
Yulo's historic double gold act at the Paris Olympics paved the way for gymnastics to be named NSA of the Year in last season's awards proceedings. His brother Eldrew Yulo also bagged bronzes in the floor exercise and horizontal bar of the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Junior Championships, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel.
Nationwide Pride
What is truly remarkable is the impact that these achievements have had on our nation. The successful hosting of the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Junior Championships, in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and other leading government agencies, has left a lasting impression on the country. Filipino gymnasts also made their presence felt in the 33rd SEA Games, taking home three gold medals, two silvers, and seven bronzes.
A Call to Action
As we celebrate this remarkable achievement, let us not forget that there is still much work to be done. Let us continue to support our national teams and athletes as they strive for greatness. Let us promote the values of hard work, discipline, and dedication that have made Philippine gymnastics a preeminent force in the world.
