Kicking Off a New Era The Evolution of the First FIFA Arena in PH
Inaugurated in Bataan
Balanga City - In a significant milestone for the Philippines, the first FIFA Arena was inaugurated in Barangay Bagumbayan, Balanga City, with the support of FIFA's global team. This inclusive space is designed to provide a platform for children to develop their football skills and discover new talents.
A Space for All
Niko Nhouvannasak, leader of the FIFA team from Canada, emphasized that the arena is free and open to everyone, with no payment required. Football is very inclusive. We would like to invite everyone to enjoy football and have access to safe spaces, he said. The arena is designed to benefit schools in the surrounding area, providing a platform for kids to play and develop their skills.
A Global Initiative
FIFA President Gianni Infantino launched a global project to construct over 1,000 mini pitches around the world by 2024. By 2025-2026, more than 60 countries were already part of this program, with all 211 member associations set to benefit from it.
Empowering Young Minds
Nhouvannasak emphasized that every child has the potential to become a football player. Our vision is that every child has the potential to become a football player. As long as we are following our dreams, as long as we are inspired, as long as we have the platform and opportunities to follow our dreams, he said.
The FIFA Arena is not just a space for kids to play but also a platform for them to establish their dreams, get inspired, and start somewhere. It's an opportunity for young minds to discover their passion and talent in football.
A Bright Future Ahead
The Philippines has huge potential to become a football powerhouse in the international scene. As Nhouvannasak put it, We know that basketball is the number one sport in the country. But we believe that football can be more beneficial to the country and the children itself.
With the first FIFA Arena now inaugurated in Bataan, the Philippines is set to take a significant step forward in its football journey. The second arena is planned for Palawan.
A Collaborative Effort
The city government of Balanga provided the land, while FIFA shouldered the construction of the arena. Acting department head for education Tara Ann Pagdanganan represented Mayor Raquel Garcia at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, alongside city councilors VJ Fernandez and Christian Manalaysay.
As we look to the future, it's clear that the FIFA Arena in Bataan marks a significant milestone in the evolution of football in the Philippines. With its inclusive nature and emphasis on empowering young minds, this arena is set to inspire a new generation of footballers and fans alike.
