Title Volkswagen's Chinese Connection Leveraging Local Expertise to Expand Global Reach

As Volkswagen continues to strengthen its presence in China, the German automaker has set its sights on exporting made-in-China cars to new markets. This strategic move aims to capitalize on VW's growing expertise in Chinese technologies and compete with local rivals abroad.

According to Thomas Ulbrich, chief technology officer of Volkswagen Group China, the company has already begun exporting petrol limousines manufactured in China to the Middle East and is exploring other market opportunities. Southeast and Central Asian countries are being considered as potential export destinations.

Volkswagen's Chinese factories possess the capability to produce both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric cars, allowing the company to tailor its exports to specific market demands. However, there are some limitations to this strategy. VW has no plans to export China-made cars to Europe due to differences in electronic architecture and software technology for smart vehicles.

This move is part of Volkswagen's in China for China strategy, which aims to help the automaker regain market share from aggressive Chinese rivals by accelerating decision-making and product development. By leveraging the scale and technologies available in China, VW can reduce costs and increase efficiency, ultimately producing more competitive products for export markets.

In fact, developing a new electric vehicle model in China can cost up to 50 percent less than elsewhere due to the country's large-scale technologies and suppliers. This reduced cost will enable Volkswagen to produce even more competitive products for export markets.

The company has also reached a significant milestone by being able to fully develop new vehicle platforms and key technology with all approval processes outside Germany. This marks a substantial step forward in VW's ability to innovate and adapt to changing market demands.

In the near future, Volkswagen plans to sell cars developed on its flagship China-developed electronic architecture – an engineering layout of components including control units and chips deciding software capabilities of a vehicle – outside China very soon. Specific timelines were not provided.

As Volkswagen continues to grow its presence in China, it is clear that the company is poised for success. By leveraging Chinese technologies and expertise, VW can compete with local rivals abroad while also staying ahead of the curve in terms of innovation and efficiency. This new strategy has the potential to revolutionize the automotive industry.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
