The Evolution of Velaris Clinches PCL Asia Finals Berth

In a thrilling finale that showcased the best of Pickleball, Team Velaris emerged victorious in the Pickleball Champions League (PCL) Rising Stars U19 Sectional Tournament at Pickletown in Davao City. The team, comprising Shesha Bree Biñas, Chrystelle Marjh Elisan, Izzy Lacida, and Jacob Cagas, demonstrated exceptional skill, poise, and championship composure to outlast SABR in a pulsating 23-21 gold medal showdown.

This impressive display of athleticism and strategy earned Team Velaris a coveted berth to the PCL Asia Grand Finals on Hainan Island, China this April, along with a US$1,000 development grant from the Asia Elite Pickleball Academy (AEPA). The team will also receive paddles, balls, and official apparel to further sharpen their game.

The Velaris quartet wowed the crowd with their impressive blend of steady dinks, sharp net play, and powerful drives. Biñas and Elisan controlled the soft game with precision, while Lacida and Cagas dictated tempo with precise third-shot drops. As the title hung in the balance, Velaris leaned on smart plays, disciplined resets, and clutch side-outs to repel SABR's late surge and seal the championship.

The SABR side of Rose Lieryanne Bacaron, Samanthan Abes, Alva Bual, and Aljamier Usman settled for silver, while the Pickle Homies squad of Mervic Indagacan, Jenny Tolentino, Rojin Tagimalay, and Jipoy Gildore secured the bronze medal.

The PCL Asia tournament, organized by Kosmas Athletic Ventures Corp. (KAVC) in partnership with Sunrise Events, Inc., brought together top Pickleball talent from across the region. The event was a resounding success, with champions emerging in various age-group divisions.

In the Open age-group divisions, Jin Hernandez and Robert Nobleza took home the 20+ men's doubles crown, while Juan Carlo Pantua and Aldrin Quintero dominated the 35+ men's doubles. Patricia Adaza and Macy Serrano won the 35+ women's doubles, and Pantua later joined Adaza to secure the mixed doubles gold.

The Velaris team's thrilling victory is a testament to the growth and evolution of Pickleball in the region. As the sport continues to exhilarate players and fans alike, it's clear that Team Velaris is ready to take on the best of the best at the PCL Asia Grand Finals.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
