Trump Justice Dept adds firing squads for federal executions

The Trump Justice Department announced on Friday that it is seeking to exp[3D[K
expand the use of federal capital punishment and add the firing squad, elec[4D[K
electrocution, and gas to lethal injection as methods of execution.
The previous administration failed in its duty to protect the American peo[3D[K
people by refusing to pursue and carry out the ultimate punishment against [K
the most dangerous criminals, including terrorists, child murderers, and co[2D[K
cop killers, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said.
Under President Donald Trump, the Department of Justice is once again enfo[4D[K
enforcing the law and standing with victims, Blanche said in a statement. [K
The Republican president ended a 17-year pause in federal executions during[6D[K
during his first term in office in 2020.
There were 13 executions by lethal injection during Trump's final six month[5D[K
months, more than under any US leader in 120 years.
