Trump claims US ‘turnaround’ in Union speech

Washington, D.C. – In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Donald Trump spoke of a “turnaround for the ages” as he sought to reverse dismal polls and see off mounting challenges at home and abroad ahead of crucial midterm elections.
Seeking to paint a rosy picture of his achievements in his longest-ever speech to Congress, President Trump largely struck a measured tone despite branding Democrats “crazy.”
In the nearly 80-minute address, which was delayed by 11 days due to the government shutdown, President Trump highlighted what he called the country’s “economy booming like never before,” while also paying tribute to recently rescued California astronaut and former NASA flight surgeon Donald Williams.
