Thousands of men shared non-consensual intimate photos on Telegram – Chinese media

The non-consensual sharing of thousands of intimate photos of women has become an alarming trend among men in China, according to reports by Chinese media outlets.

Despite the illegality and social stigma associated with pornography, conservative attitudes towards women still prevail in mainstream culture. These negative perceptions are often reinforced by state-run media as well as popular culture.

This disturbing behavior came to light after a university student in the country was expelled for allegedly sharing intimate videos posted on Telegram by a Ukrainian gamer. In these messages, it is alleged that the pair had an intimate relationship.

As more and more women come forward with stories of non-consensual distribution of their intimate photos online, there needs to be increased efforts towards addressing this problem head-on before it gets out of hand.
