Q-School Showdown 126 Aspirants Eye 30 Tour Cards at Splendido Golf Club

The Philippine Golf Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) has attracted a record-breaking 126 aspirants, a diverse group of seasoned professionals, former national champions, and international golfers vying for one of the coveted 30 Tour cards. The four-day tournament will take place from March 17 to 20 at Splendido Golf Club in Laurel, Batangas.

The competition is expected to be fierce, with each player knowing that a single mistake can shatter their year-long preparation. From tee shot to final putt, the battle for Tour cards will require precision, power, and poise. The challenging layout of Splendido, which features ever-shifting winds, elevation changes, and punishing rough, demands imagination as much as execution.

Those who succeed in navigating this unforgiving test will earn playing rights for the upcoming PGT season, a lucrative 10-leg circuit that features international participation and prize pursues of at least P2 million. The stakes are high, with each event presenting an opportunity to compete against the best golfers from around the world.

Last season's top performers, including OOM champion Angelo Que, Keanu Jahns, and Fidel Concepcion, will be joined by a new crop of talented golfers vying for Tour cards. However, before they can join the elite ranks, they must first survive the crucible of Q-School.

Among those tipped to contend are former PGT leg winner Ira Alido, Ferdie Aunzo, Belem Arancon, Ramil Bisera, Rufino Bayron, Jobim Carlos, Albin Engino, Anthony Fernando, Enrico Gallardo, Jonas Magcalayo, Tom Marcelo, Ivan Monsalve, Robert Pactolerin, Carlos Packing, Rey Pagunsan, Kuresh Samanodi, Richard Sinfuego, and John Michael Uy – all seeking to secure their Tour cards.

The foreign challenge adds further excitement to the tournament, with a record 43 international golfers looking to make their mark on the Philippine circuit. Headlining this group are South Korea's Kim Tae Won, Japan's Kento Watanabe, Daiya Suzuki, and Toru Nakajima, as well as American Riley Keagle.

The Philippine Golf Tour, sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc., will kick off its official season immediately after Q-School with the Lakewood Championship on March 24-27 at Lakewood Golf and Country Club in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. The circuit will then feature a 54-hole Ladies PGT event alongside the Junior PGT before resuming from May 19-22 at Caliraya Springs Golf Club in Cavinti, Laguna.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
