Unbeaten Champions Perpetual Help's Dominance in NCAA Girls Volleyball
The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta's girls volleyball team has extended its winning streak, securing a fourth consecutive victory in the NCAA Season 101 tournament. Led by outside hitter Sherrie Rose Acosta, the Junior Lady Altas demonstrated their prowess against Jose Rizal University's Junior Lady Bombers, emerging victorious with scores of 25-18 and 25-6.
Acosta's impressive performance was marked by nine points, all from attacks, showcasing her exceptional skill and determination. She also showcased her defensive capabilities with two digs and a reception, contributing significantly to the team's overall success. Other notable players included Ellizha Sildo, who added seven points on five attacks, a block, and an ace, as well as Ramiel Panganiban, who chipped in six points on five attacks and an ace.
The real game-changers for Perpetual Help, however, were setter Jaja Monte's 13 excellent sets out of 43 attempts and libero Janine Espiritu's 10 digs and four excellent receptions. This dynamic duo enabled the team to maintain a strong offense and defense, ultimately leading to their victory.
In contrast, Khelly Zoleta was JRU's leading scorer with five points, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to salvage their winless record, now at 0-4 in the team standings.
Meanwhile, the defending boys volleyball champion Junior Altas Spikers bounced back from a loss against Mapus with a resounding victory over Lyceum of the Philippines University. Gabriel Macatuno and Daryl Torio combined for 28 points, while Symon Suyat recorded nine excellent sets and libero JM Regorosa added six digs and 15 receptions.
In other news, Letran defeated San Beda University in straight sets, solidifying their position in the tournament.
As we look to the future, it's clear that Perpetual Help is a force to be reckoned with in the world of NCAA girls volleyball. With their unbeaten streak intact and a strong foundation built on teamwork and individual skill, they're well-positioned to continue dominating the competition in the years to come.
