E-Mobility Revolution Pasig's 5 New E-Buses Hit the Roads on Monday

Pasig City is taking a significant step towards a more sustainable and effi
efficient public transportation system with the introduction of five new el
electric minibuses. Starting April 6, these eco-friendly vehicles will begi
begin operating under the city government's Libreng Sakay (free ride) progr
program.

The addition of these e-buses to Pasig's transportation network is timely,
considering the rising oil prices that have been affecting commuters. Mayor
Mayor Vico Sotto announced that each unit was procured for a reasonable P3,
P3,989,600, making them an affordable and practical solution for the city's
city's transportation woes.

The electric minibuses will be used by Pasig Transport for Libreng Sakay, w
with four initial routes operational from Monday to Friday, except holidays
holidays. The routes will connect key areas such as SPED, Temporary Pasig C
City Hall, Ligaya in Santolan, One San Miguel Avenue in San Antonio, and Na
Nagpayong in Pinagbuhatan.

The introduction of these e-buses marks a significant milestone for Pasig i
in its efforts to improve public transportation efficiency. By piloting und
underserved and potential PUV routes, the city aims to determine whether th
the routes are feasible and whether there is enough passenger demand.

The limited operating schedule of 530 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6
630 p.m. for Routes 2, 3, and 4 is designed to avoid affecting PUVs that c
continue to operate despite the continued rise in oil prices, while still p
providing relief to commuters who may struggle to find rides.

As Pasig takes this step towards a more sustainable transportation system,
it is clear that the city is committed to finding innovative solutions to t
the challenges faced by its citizens. The introduction of these e-buses is
a significant step forward and sets an example for other cities to follow.
