Title Pasig Cracks Down on Eateries Over Wastewater Discharge Mayor Vico Sotto Prioritizes Environmental Compliance

In his efforts to transform Pasig City into a cleaner and more sustainable place, Mayor Vico Sotto has taken decisive action against eateries that fail to meet environmental standards. The move follows reports of untreated wastewater being discharged directly into drainage lines, despite some establishments having valid permits.

The Issue at Hand Environmental Compliance

During the ongoing infrastructure development projects on West Capitol Drive, Mayor Sotto received a report about businesses discharging wastewater into drainage lines. This is despite some restaurants having obtained necessary permits but failing to meet requirements such as proper grease trap usage.

A Call for Accountability

Mayor Sotto emphasized that while his administration aims to make doing business in Pasig easier, minimum environmental standards must be met. We want to support local businesses, but we also expect them to adhere to our regulations, he said. If they fail to comply, we will take necessary action, including closure.

Enforcement Underway Strict Compliance

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) confirmed the violations following water sampling, and four establishments have already received Notices of Violation.

A Message to Business Owners Compliance is Key

Mayor Sotto's message to business owners is clear environmental compliance is not just a recommendation, but a requirement. We will continue to enforce our regulations strictly, as we recognize that environmental violations affect not only the businesses involved but also the community as a whole, he said.

Community Support A Partnership for Sustainability

The mayor also thanked Kap Alex, Barangay Kapitolyo officials, and residents for their support in his efforts to promote environmental compliance.

Prioritizing Environmental Compliance A Path Forward

As Pasig City continues to grow and develop, it is essential that business growth is balanced with environmental compliance and community welfare. Mayor Sotto's administration has emphasized that while the city encourages business growth, environmental compliance and public health remain top priorities.

In this blog post, we have seen how Mayor Vico Sotto has taken a firm stance against eateries that fail to meet environmental standards. By prioritizing compliance and enforcement, Pasig City is working towards creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for its residents.
