Title Pasig City's Young Chess Whiz Marius Zabanal Constante Wins Big in NCR Palaro
The city of Pasig has once again reason to celebrate, as its young chess prodigy Marius Zabanal Constante has emerged victorious in the elementary boys division of the National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCR Palaro). Constante, an 8-year-old grade 3 student from Victory Christian International School, demonstrated exceptional chess skills, outmaneuvering his opponents to claim the top spot.
Constante's Journey to Success
Constante, a talented player for AQ Prime Sports Chess Talents, began his winning streak by defeating several top contenders, including David Marcus Badillo of Pasay City, Cedrick Pabiana of Manila, and David Francis Modesto of Las Pinas. Although he suffered a setback against Caleb Royce Garcia of Taguig-Pateros in the fourth round, Constante recovered strongly, defeating Marco Piolo Sanido of Manila, Arena Fide Master Steve Nitafan of Mandaluyong, and John Timothy Navarro of Muntinlupa in the final three rounds.
Path to Victory
Constante's impressive performance earned him 6.0 points, with six wins and one loss, securing his position as the champion of the elementary boys division. His victory was met with excitement and pride from his coaches, family, and the Pasig City government.
Support System
Constante credits his success to the support of his coaches, Franco Camillo and Noel dela Cruz, as well as AQ Prime CEO and President Atty. Aldwin Alegre, who manages his chess career. I would like to thank AQ Prime, Victory Christian International School, the Pasig City government, and my coaches for their continued support, Constante said.
A Bright Future Ahead
As the champion of the elementary boys division, Constante and runner-up Danry Seth Romualdez of Taguig-Pateros will represent the National Capital Region in the Palarong Pambansa hosted by Agusan del Sur later this year. With his exceptional skills and dedication, Constante is poised to make a lasting impact in the world of chess.
Conclusion
Marius Zabanal Constante's victory in the NCR Palaro is a testament to the remarkable chess skills of Pasig City's young players. As he continues to excel in the world of chess, we can expect great things from this talented young player.
