5 Ways Cultural Preservationists Professionals Can Leverage Northeast US scrambles to clear snow ahead of new storm

The massive snowstorm that hit the northeastern United States this week left cities in the region scrambling on Wednesday to remove towering piles of snow from Maryland to Maine. The snowfall was not showing any signs of melting anytime soon, and cities were forced to take action.

In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that the city had spread 143 million pounds (65 million kilograms) of salt by Tuesday evening, and a call for emergency shovelers had gone out. There are over 3,500 people who signed up for $30-per-hour shifts clearing snow across public streets and bus stops.

However, there is still much work left to do as the city braces itself for another storm expected on Wednesday. For many people with disabilities, the snow has made it difficult to get around.

Jeff Peters, spokesman for the Center for Independence of the Disabled, New York, described parts of the city as impassable islands.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
