In the top of the ninth inning, Kirk delivered a go-ahead two-run double off Yankees closer Devin Williams, securing the win for the Blue Jays.

The decisive moment came after George Springer led off with a single and Andres Gimenez was hit by pitch. Kirk seized the opportunity, launching a 1-0 changeup over the head of center fielder Trent Grisham. Manager Aaron Boone quickly pulled Williams, who blew his first save in five chances. José Berríos started for the Blue Jays and pitched 5 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, striking out four and walking two. Carlos Carrasco did the same for the Yankees, allowing just three hits in five innings.
