Title Philippines Moves Filipinos to Safe Areas in Middle East Amid US-Israel-Iran Airstrikes

As global tensions escalate between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has assured the public that his government is taking every precaution to ensure the safety of Filipinos living in the Middle East.

In a video message released by Malacañang, Marcos reported that measures have been taken to relocate Filipinos to safe areas, with most individuals residing in designated bomb shelters following the exchange of airstrikes between the three countries. As of 900 a.m. Sunday, there had been no reports of Filipino casualties or injuries.

We understand that many Filipinos are concerned about their friends and relatives living in the Middle East, Marcos said. I want to reassure our countrymen that as of 900 a.m. Sunday, we have not received any reports of Filipino casualties. No Filipinos have died. No Filipinos have been injured.

The Philippine government has placed all embassies and labor attachés on heightened alert since late Saturday afternoon to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipinos in the region.

According to our latest report, our countrymen are currently safe and have been relocated to bomb shelters, Marcos said. They have also been moved away from American bases to minimize their exposure to danger. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Philippines has a significant presence of Filipinos living and working in the Middle East, with over two million individuals scattered across the region. High concentrations can be found in Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Bahrain.

In light of escalating tensions, Marcos directed the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) to prioritize securing Filipinos, most of whom are overseas workers. This move demonstrates the Philippine government's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens living abroad.

As the situation continues to unfold, it is reassuring to know that efforts are being made to keep Filipinos safe and out of harm's way.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
