Title Shining Stars Delos Santos and Peralta Shine with Weightlifting Golds at IWF World Championships

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) 2025 World Youth and Junior Championships in Peru have seen Filipino weightlifters making a significant impact on the second day of competition. Albert Ian Delos Santos has emerged as a standout performer, securing two gold medals in the men's 67-kilogram junior category.

Delos Santos' impressive performance included a snatch lift of 134 kilograms, placing him fourth overall. He then bounced back with a gold-medal performance in clean and jerk, lifting an impressive 175 kilograms. His combined weight total of 309 kilograms earned him the top spot on the podium, securing his second gold medal.

When asked about his remarkable turnaround from a previous back injury, Delos Santos credited his recovery to the support he received. I knew I could do it, he said, reflecting on his journey. After my back injury last year, everything seemed dark for a while. But with the help and encouragement of others, I was able to focus entirely on preparing for these championships.

Delos Santos also expressed gratitude towards his mother, Diwa, and coach Julius Naranjo, the husband and coach of Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz.

In the women's 55-kilogram Youth category, Jhodie Peralta dominated, sweeping all three gold medals. She set a new personal best in snatch with a lift of 84 kilograms, followed by a clean and jerk performance of 104 kilograms, and a combined lift total of 188 kilograms to secure her overall victory.

Rosalinda Faustino, competing in the women's 49-kilogram juniors event, unfortunately did not finish.

This blog post celebrates the outstanding achievements of Filipino weightlifters Delos Santos and Peralta as they bring home gold medals from the IWF World Championships.

Enjoy the little things in life. For one day, you may look back and realize they were the big things. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
