Buenaventura's impact extended beyond Shell Philippines, as he served on the boards of various notable companies, including Concepcion Industrial Corp., DMCI Holdings Inc., International Container Terminal Services Inc., PetroEnergy Resources Corp., and Manila Water Co. Inc.

Throughout his remarkable career, Buenaventura was recognized for his outstanding contributions. He received the Honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II in 1991, a testament to his esteemed reputation.
