Artemis II crew captures stunning views of Earth as they journey towards t[1D[K
the moon.
NASA has released the first downlinked images of the crew's Orion capsule, [K
showcasing a curved slice of Earth seen through one of the capsule's window[6D[K
windows and a beautiful view of the entire globe with swirling white tendri[6D[K
tendrils of clouds, even featuring a green aurora. As the mission continues[9D[K
continues, the crew is quickly gaining on the moon, with another 150,000 mi[2D[K
miles to go.
The three Americans and one Canadian aboard the spacecraft will swing aroun[5D[K
around the moon in their Orion capsule, hang a U-turn, and then head straig[6D[K
straight back home without stopping. They fired Orion's main engine Thursda[7D[K
Thursday night, setting them on their course.
After Mission Control shifted the position of their capsule, the entire Ear[3D[K
Earth, complete with northern lights, filled their windows. It was the mos[3D[K
most spectacular moment, and it paused all four of us in our tracks, said [K
commander Reid Wiseman in a TV interview.
